Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) Repair Surgery is open-heart surgery to correct the four defects of TOF — VSD, pulmonary stenosis, aortic over-ride and right ventricular hypertrophy. Untreated TOF causes ‘blue baby’ cyanosis and life-threatening hypoxic spells. Most children undergo complete intracardiac repair in infancy (4-12 months) at Indian paediatric cardiac centres with excellent long-term survival above 95%. Where the pulmonary arteries are very small, a staged approach with an initial BT shunt may be used.
